Congratulations to our Conwell Kids for their Overall Outstanding Performance at the 2024 Junior Theater Festival: West in Sacramento, CA.
Students representing Conwell Kidz Drama Program received awards and earned other recognition at the 2024 Junior Theater Festival West (JTF West). The monumental weekend dedicated to rewarding and celebrating excellent student-driven musical theater programs happened February 9-11, 2024, at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in Sacramento, CA.
Conwell Kidz Drama Program received the following commendations:
- Outstanding Production, awarded to six groups across the festival who demonstrate outstanding storytelling and performance ability. These groups perform on the mainstage during the Freddie G Awards Ceremony.
- Kleio Maretis was named an All-Festival Individual, awarded to two students from the entire festival for their outstanding adjudication performance.
- Lana Oliver received a Freddie G Award for Outstanding Individual Performance, awarded to one student in each adjudication pod.
- Zoey Flores and Polina Sobolev were named Performance All-Stars. These students take a special All-Star workshop and perform as part of the Freddie G Awards Ceremony.
- Polina Sobolev made it to the call-back for a yet-to-be announced special project promoting musical theater in schools.
At the festival, each group performed 15 minutes of a Broadway Junior® musical for adjudicators.
Conwell Kidz Drama Program performed an excerpt from Disney's The Little Mermaid JR. for Marissa Davis, Music Director & Teaching Artist; and Kenny Shepard, Director, Choreographer and Professor of Musical Theatre and Dance at Ball State and Anderson University.
